The Standard "Pig Butchering" Scam Flow: Build trust through a persona → Casually show investment returns → Let you earn small profits → Strip you of your funds in one go.
According to media reports, a 65-year-old retired woman met a man claiming to be an overseas engineer on a social platform. He checked in on her every day, and after two months, he "casually" showed screenshots of his investment returns, claiming he had access to "internal channels."
The victim invested a small amount first and successfully withdrew funds. Persuaded by the man, she kept increasing her investment — ultimately losing approximately USD 4.5 million.
How the Scheme Works
1. Scammers typically adopt personas such as professionals, overseas Chinese, or widowed/divorced individuals — precisely targeting emotional needs.
2. They never bring up investing directly; instead, they let you "discover" it, lowering your guard.
3. Platform data can be altered freely. Early small withdrawals exist solely to build trust.
4. If you express doubt, they apply emotional pressure: "Don't you trust me?"
⚠️ WARNING
If someone you meet online brings up investing, recommends platforms, or sends return screenshots — no matter how well you get along — end the conversation immediately and report it to the authorities. A genuine relationship will never ask you to transfer money.
Ingat ini
Setiap permintaan bayar di muka (pajak, setoran, biaya buka blokir) sebelum penarikan adalah penipuan. Hentikan transfer, simpan bukti, lapor polisi.
